Amen to that. Alas, the adage that people who run for public office shouldn't have it seems truer now than ever, and the long-term combination of principle, ideals, and pragmatism is too much for most to bear. Including our Dear Leaders.
(Not that I'm saintly, but at least my mistakes don't affect global economies etc. And I'll be writing in Ron Paul.)

“random demagoguery and blind ignorance we have seen… emanating from the McCain/Palin campaign”
Might Pretty Lady’s deaf ear (blind eye?) have caused her to miss the unsavory aspects of Democratic demagoguery? I sense cause and effect.
Suggesting conservative Republicans have a go at national ticket voter revolt to restore conservative principles to the party is a wonderful idea – I’m on board. My gambler’s instincts, however, suggest this would be the opportunity to “double down”, i.e. have the Democrats stage a mirror national ticket voter revolt to restore liberal principles to their party. Everyone votes a third party on the national ticket! Are we all on board?
I know I’ve sung this same song over several posts over a couple of months now but I can’t help it. I am neither deaf nor blind and therefore keep seeing demagoguery, incompetence, corruption, and inanities coming at me from all sides.
To quote the great P.J. O'Rourke: "The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it."
Darlings, where to start? Sometimes I feel as though I have lived a thousand lives in this one, dewy and unlined though my complexion may be. To Tell All may be to intimidate; thus I maintain, at most times, a discreet reserve. But here I share my musings, perhaps revealing the secret to my exquisite poise and charm.
