WASHINGTON - President Bush, in a constitutional showdown with Congress, claimed executive privilege Thursday and rejected demands for White House documents and testimony about the firing of U.S. attorneys. Can this be any clearer? We have a President who fully believes that he is Above the Law.
His decision was denounced as "Nixonian stonewalling" by the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Bush rejected subpoenas for documents from former presidential counsel Harriet Miers and former political director Sara Taylor. The White House made clear neither one would testify next month, as directed by the subpoenas.
We have a President, dear friends, who has spied illegally on U.S. citizens. He has authorized indefinite imprisonment without charges. He has authorized, nay, encouraged torture of those imprisoned, in violation of the Geneva Conventions. He has embroiled us in an unwinnable and monstrously expensive war under false pretences. He has attempted to foist legislation upon us which makes a mockery of the very notion of 'citizenship.' He is a liar, a jackass and a fool.
Pretty Lady believes that it is morally incumbent upon every citizen of this once-great country to impeach this man. She is absolutely serious about this. If we do not impeach this stupid, scurrilous, hubristic, narcissistic, self-righteous, incompetent excuse for a human being, we do not deserve to call ourselves 'citizens' any longer. We are merely the easily manipulated cardboard idiots which our fatuous ass of a President and his cronies assume us to be, and we deserve the desecration of our civil rights which will inevitably follow.

Amen to all that.
Yes, Indeed.
Need to impeach Cheney first, though. Otherwise probably the only person in America who would be a worse President than Bush would be President.
Wow, I didn't know you were a expert in constitutional law, and american politics. I know I am not. So, under what charge do you suppose to impeach him on? They have no evidence.
his presidency is almost up. People in this country won't have to suffer under George Bush for only about a year and a half.
Then you will probably get Hillary Clinton. We will see how well that turns out.
Preach on sister! But I second that thought on Cheney. I tremble just thinking that he could ever be prez of this great country. We'd have to look at that evil smirk every day on television. (at least The Daily Show would have a field day)
If Cheney were to be made president by the impeachment of Bush, then he would likely run for re-election, and would have a solid chance of winning against the Hildebeest.
Consider what it is you ask for.
You all entirely misunderstand me. Bush must be Impeached; Cheney must be Disappeared. This is simply basic karma.
Got the inside scoop on the process--at least a plausible one--on my socially unacceptable blog, since the repubs are already plotting to toss cheney.
Pretty Lady,
I don't have a problem impeaching Bush and removing him from office. There are plenty of legitimate reasons for doing so. The attorneys firing is not one of them. Congress really has no business making an issue of that. The attorneys serve at his pleasure. He can fire them for any reason or no reason. Etc. (I don't think I need to remind anyone that Billy Jeff fired all of the U.S. attorneys shortly after he came into office. No one batted an eye. The hypocrisy of the Left with respect to this is shameless. Of course, that is nothing new.)
Impeach Bush for domestic spying. Impeach him for Guantanamo. Impeach him for No Child Left Behind. Impeach him for the Medicare drug benefit. Impeach him over so-called immigration reform. Impeach him because he cannot deliver a single paragraph in public without committing at least one gaffe. Just do not impeach him over the U.S. attorneys.
And impeach him for signing the NAFTA & CAFTA agreements - one of the worst knifes in the back he's committed upon your country.
I thought the other Bush signed NAFTA. Am I wrong about that?
